Welcome to our farm website! We help to preserve rare and endangered breeds by raising them on our small homestead, and hope this site will help inform others about some of these unique and wonderful animals, before they disappear.
The Country Haven is a small family homestead where we're working toward self-sufficiency while also helping to preserve rare and endangered breeds of livestock and poultry. With the need for outside income, we don't have the luxury of being able to be full-time homesteaders, but we do enjoy a simple farm life, with a variety of special animals which are both helpful and entertaining. We focus on keeping special and rare breeds, and have several varieties here which are considered to be endangered or in critical danger of extinction. We sometimes have a few animals for sale, and any donations would also be appreciated (we have feed to buy, and bills to pay). Our small farm is in the Piney Woods of East Texas, (near Jacksonville), and just a short drive from Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches, Lufkin, and Palestine. We're approximately in the middle of a triangle drawn between Dallas, Houston, and Shreveport, Louisiana (or Texarkana), so are close enough for a day trip to (or from) those cities, too. Please feel free to get in touch if you are interested in helping to preserve rare breeds.
The humans at our farm are outnumbered, trained, and entertained by a variety of "critters". Some of our special farm residents are:
